Welcome to the April 2024 edition of 'The Lookout'

Kia ora koutou

Welcome to The Lookout, bringing you a global perspective on issues that matter.

In this edition, we put In Focus the recent Aspen International Committee Meeting in Mexico City, illustrating how collaboration between the International Partners strengthens the Institute’s global impact. We also reflect on our recent Aspen-Queenstown Sister City visit, which reignited the ties and partnership opportunities between the regions.

Leadership in Action celebrates local Aspen Alumni and distinguished international climate scientist, Jim Salinger, who was recently awarded the prestigious title of 2024 New Zealander of the Year for his career dedicated to advancing climate science.

Followed by In Depth, which examines a fascinating report on Transatlantic Public Opinion and Ukraine, and the relevance of this in a year when over 64 countries hit the polls.

Coming up, we are excited to welcome Judy Samuelson to Queenstown as the moderator of our inaugural Socrates Seminar, The Future of Business - How to Create Real Value in a Changing World to be held May 5 - 7. Judy is internationally renowned for challenging conventional thinking in business. The discussion will be highly relevant to all business in NZ as we grapple with sustainability and value. Later in May, we will run our new Evidence and Values Based Decision Making Course (EVBDM), in collaboration with the Parliamentary Education Trust, exclusively for all Members of Parliaments in Wellington.

Don't miss out on these exciting opportunities - we encourage you to get involved. We have a few places remaining for the Socrates Seminar - secure your spot by registering today. Contact us directly to book the transformative EVBDM Course for your organisation.

As always, feel free to customise the content in a way that works for you, and to share it with friends. We hope you enjoy it!

Ngā mihi - Christine and the Aspen Institute NZ team
