Scholarship Recipients Announced for Democracy Forward Workshop in Berlin!

Democracy Forward:

Inspiring Change in Today's World

We are excited to announce the recipients of the Institute’s scholarships for the first Aspen International Partner's young leaders workshop in Berlin this November. Congratulations to Parminder Kaur and Peter Southey-Jensen!

Both accomplished Aspen NZ Alumni, Parminder and Peter possess a shared commitment to democratic systems and their societal impact. Peter, an economic advisor at MBIE, aims to explore the intersection of long-term energy strategies and electoral cycles, while Parminder, engaged in Parliamentary matters, seeks to gain knowledge of diverse democratic models for the betterment of New Zealanders.

During the immersive 4-day workshop, participants from around the world will engage in thought-provoking discussions, breakout groups, and experiential learning sessions across Berlin, which will explore the workings of democratic systems and their impact on societies. They will have the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded peers to develop actionable commitments for positive change in their own communities, expand their global networks, and form valuable partnerships. Beyond the workshop, the participants will be provided with ongoing support and collaboration through the International Partners network.

We are grateful to the Institute in Washington D.C., who have generously funded the scholarships.

Thank you to all our applicants, and we eagerly await to hear from Parminder and Peter upon their return.
