Aspen NZ Security Roundtable

Aspen NZ Security Dialogue

Economic and National Security: A Whole of Society Approach

Wellington | Tuesday 21 April 2026

Following our recent Aspen NZ Security Dialogue in Auckland, we are pleased to bring this national conversation to Wellington.

Shifts in global trade, alliance settings, and technological competition are reshaping the security environment in which New Zealand operates. This invitation-only roundtable will examine New Zealand’s economic and national security through a whole-of-society lens, with particular focus on the relationship between business prosperity and national security.

A select group of senior leaders will join a private, Aspen-style discussion to explore the choices and trade-offs ahead, and the collective responsibility to safeguard New Zealand’s long-term prosperity.

Guest Speakers

Rosemary Banks
Former New Zealand Ambassador to the United States

Following her recent term in Washington DC, Rosemary Banks will offer insights on U.S. foreign policy, alliance settings, and the implications for New Zealand’s economic and security posture.

Andrew Hampton
Director-General, New Zealand Security Intelligence Service

Andrew Hampton has led New Zealand’s intelligence and security agencies for more than a decade. He will outline the rapidly evolving security pressures facing New Zealand and the practical roles government, business, and communities each play in reducing risk and protecting the country’s long-term prosperity.

Hosted by Aspen Institute New Zealand:

Christine Maiden Sharp, Trustee and CEO
