In 1949, the American industrialist and philanthropist Walter Paepcke realised that the world was entering an era of tremendous uncertainty and upheaval.

His idea was to bring a diverse group of forward-thinking people together and give them the freedom to engage with each other.

And that’s how the Aspen Institute began.

Te Kākano is our globally linked local community of Aspen Institute New Zealand supporters.

Members are the Aspen Institute’s closest friends and philanthropic partners helping advance the Institute’s mission of values-based leadership and dialogue on the issues critical to our country and world today.
