Welcome to the February edition of 'The Lookout'

Welcome to The Lookout, bringing you a global perspective on issues that matter. In the first edition for 2023, we put In Focus geopolitical challenges, the theme of the Aspen Summer Series. On Thursday, 2nd February, we got off to a fast start with a dynamic forum on the Indo Pacific, ably moderated by Alan Bollard.

If you have not already,  we encourage you to register for the North Asia (February 16th) and Great Power Rivalry (March 2nd) forums with experts in foreign relations, security and defence, including Sir Don McKinnon, Rosemary Banks (former NZ Ambassador to U.S.), Simon Draper, (CEO of Asia NZ Foundation), and John McKinnon (Chair of NZ China Council).

In addition to these in-person forums on geopolitics, we're broadening the dialogue internationally, with an online 'Diplomatic Dialogue' on February 20th with our partner, Aspen Germany. Registration details are in the newsletter and on our website.

Followed by the eighth seminar in our Future Challenges Series on Democracy, Digital Media and AI Challenges in March.

You will also find the usual hand-picked selection of in-depth analyses, moderated discussions, event invitations and prize-winning publications from a range of international viewpoints. We invite you to curate your own content in a way that works for you and share it with your friends. We hope you enjoy it.
