The Aspen Institute New Zealand (Aspen NZ), is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organisation based in Queenstown. We drive change through dialogue, leadership and action to help solve the greatest challenges of our time.

 

Aspen NZ is the 11th partner of The Aspen Institute International Network, operating in 15 countries around the world.  The Aspen Institute is an educational and policy studies organisation based in Washington, DC. Its mission is to foster leadership based on enduring values and to provide a non-partisan venue for dealing with critical issues. The Institute’s network of partners is dedicated to promoting dialogue on the values and ideas that inspire people, communities, and institutions. Each partner is independently financed and operated, with their own staff operating on the ground in their countries.

 

Position:

The Aspen Institute New Zealand is seeking a Communications Co-ordinator to support operations and communications. This position will provide support for the smooth running of operations and events, post content about the Institute's work in New Zealand and manage social media channels, and newsletters.

 

You will have strong organisational, writing and editing skills, and experience in the creation and delivery of digital communications. Exceptional attention to detail is key as well as the ability to be self-motivated as you will work remotely.

 

Ideally, you will live in or near Queenstown, and available for up to 15 hours per week. The ability to be responsive during deadlines is critical.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Administration, invoicing, and stakeholder support.

  • Event planning and logistics.

  • Digital/social media communications - compiling, creating, and editing.

  • Database and website management.

  • Work both independently and with direction.

 

Knowledge, Education and Experience:

Qualified candidates should have the following:

  • B.A., Journalism, Graphic Design, Marketing or equivalent degree desirable.

  • Relevant work experience 2-5 years.

  • Strong IT skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Hubspot, Canva, Squarespace, Web and Graphic Design/layout tools, and posting on social media platforms.

  • Outstanding communications skills on-line and in-person.

  • Robust ability to meet deadlines and attention to detail.

  • A strong commitment to the character and purpose of the Aspen Institute. 

  • If applicable, an appropriate work visa. 

 

Level of Authority:

  • Non-supervisory position

  • No budget authority

The Institute has implemented a mandatory COVID vaccination policy for all staff/contractors who will work at one of our physical locations, attend any of our in-person events or travel on behalf of the Institute.
